The ancient 1,000+ years old yew at Brockenhurst

I was down in the New Forest these past few days on a holiday and paid a visit to this exquisite hollowing yew tree at the Saint Nicholas’ Church in Brockenhurst, which has been carbon dated to determine its age – this process suggests that the yew tree is over 1,000 years old. Given the slow rate of growth for yew trees, in addition to its sheer size in particularly stem girth, this age is seemingly fair.
